HISTORY OF GRANN
Welcome to the family
ABOUT GRANN RESTAURANT
For Chef Howell, it all began in his grandmother’s kitchen in Tacoma, surrounded by the comforting aromas of perfectly crisp fried chicken and warm, bubbling pies. Those moments, steeped in love and flavor, planted the seed for a lifelong passion. After years spent honing his craft and earning the prestigious title of Chef's Plate Champion, he knew it was time to come home.

Now, returning to his roots, Chef Howell joins forces with the masterful Pitmaster Denzel. Together, they are weaving their shared heritage and culinary journeys into a menu filled with "smoke, spice, and everything nice!"

Grann is our tribute—a celebration of the remarkable women whose recipes shaped us and whose kitchens were the heart of our families. We believe the soul of Southern cuisine lives in the recipes passed down through generations, each one telling a story of love, community, and tradition.

To honor that legacy, we invite you to become part of ours. We are building the Grann Family Recipe Collection and welcome you to share the recipes and memories that define your own family table. Selected dishes will be lovingly recreated and featured as specials in our restaurant, with your family’s name proudly displayed on the menu.

Grann is more than a restaurant; it’s a place where old memories are savored and new ones are made. Welcome to the family.

I’m here because someone fed me with love, and I want to pass that on.”
Executive Chef Reginald Jacob Howell

"The word "Grann" came from us being embedded in this culture with our Grandmothers. Grann is not just a restaurant, or a business, it's a family affair."
